Growth Management Regional Workshops (Charlotte County) – Registration is now open
Join guest speaker Gene Boles at one of the upcoming Growth Management workshops being offered in Duval County in March at the Duval County UF/IFAS Extension office located at 1010 N. McDuff Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32254.
On Thursday, May 9, 2019, Mr. Boles will present the Growth Management Planning Officials Symposium from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm in Duval County. Registration is $125 and includes breakfast and lunch. FAC attendees will earn 6 hours of core CCC/CGE credits for attending. Planners will earn 6 hours of credit for attending this full day workshop. Thursday’s Growth Management workshop is designed for elected and appointed officials who make planning and zoning recommendations and decisions, as well as planning staff.
The series covers the laws, principles and practices that have shaped the planning process in Florida. Officials will receive basic instruction about Florida’s planning and growth management system, his/her role and how to do the job more effectively. Peer exchange and discussion are valuable parts of this events.

On Friday, May 10, 2019, the Planning Administration Best Practice Series will be offered from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm in Duval County. This workshop will be offered in two parts (or you may choose to attend the entire day). Each session has a registration fee of $75 or the entire day registration fee is $125. Full day registration includes breakfast and lunch. FAC attendees may earn 3 hours of elective CCC/CGE credits for attending the full day. Planners will earn 3 AICP credits per session.

The program content for each core course is designed to cover fundamental information necessary to effectively serve as a county commissioner. To be certified, commissioners must earn a minimum of 30 credit hours of core curriculum. Each core course is equivalent to 6 hours of credit. The majority of these programs are offered once a calendar year.
The following courses develop skills that are important to county commissioners. A maximum of 9 credit hours from these or similar classes may be applied toward the 45 hours required for certification. Each elective course is equivalent to 3 hours of credit. Four elective courses are provided throughout the year. The program topics offered vary from year to year.
Participation in statewide education and policymaking events is an important part of the CCC curriculum. As such, the following events are CCC accredited. The credit hours for each of these programs vary due to program length. To become certified, commissioners must earn 6 hours of continuing education credits.
